Rodney Mathews brings length, physicality, and proven ball skills to Fresno State’s secondary
Rodney Mathews is a 6-foot, 195-pound safety who arrives at Fresno State with a compact, versatile frame and a defensive back profile built on coverage ability and physical play. His high-school background at Damien/Glendora was strong enough to draw multiple FBS offers, and recruiting profiles list him as an athletic safety rather than just a box defender. The key appeal is his mix of size, toughness, and adaptability, which makes him intriguing for a defense that values safeties who can support the run while still holding up in space.
