Syracuse’s high-strikeout, high-leverage lefty workhorse
Verni has been a real swing piece for Syracuse in the circle, showing starter-level stamina and punchout upside: in the 2025 season she went 11-7 with a 3.78 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 100.0 innings, then kept flashing bat-missing stuff in 2026 with an 11-strikeout outing against Fairfield. She’s more than raw velocity; the differentiator is her ability to handle big moments, pile up innings, and give the Orange a dependable secondary arm behind the ace, even if consistency can still ebb and flow.
