UTRGV Righty with Mid-90s Ceiling and Real Strikeout Bite
Barrera is a power-armed right-handed pitcher whose profile suggests upside beyond the box score: recruiting listings show a fastball that has touched 92 mph with consistent velocity around 89 mph, and UTRGV’s 2026 box score shows he’s already getting real innings against high-level competition. That combo makes him interesting as a fit for teams that want a competitive arm with starter/relief flexibility and velocity-driven upside, though his current value still depends on refining command and turning raw stuff into more consistent run prevention.
