Jared Baum is a depth-piece DB with size and safety flexibility
Jared Baum is a 6-foot-1, 204-pound defensive back for Maryland who enters the fall competing for backup snaps at free safety, which points to positional versatility and enough physicality to handle contact. The 2026 Maryland roster lists him as a third-year player and a backup at free safety, but available season stats show no recorded defensive production yet, so his value is more projection than box-score pop. In plain English: he looks like a useful development piece who can fit a depth chart, not a headline-grabber—yet.
