Defensive Dynamo and Scoring Spark for Hampton Pirates (2005-06)
DeMario Mattox burst onto the scene as a Hampton Pirates guard in 2005-06, playing 29 of 32 games and leading the team with 34 steals—showcasing elite defensive instincts and quick hands that made him one of the squad's top stoppers. His high school pedigree (15 PPG, 5 boards, 5 assists, 5 steals senior year) hinted at versatility, later proven at Wingate with 7.4 PPG and 2.5 RPG in 2007-08 (2nd in SAC starts). Gritty competitor with playmaking upside; a perfect fit for teams needing lockdown perimeter D and hustle.
