Jovon Burriss brings proven takeaway juice and veteran downhill pop to McNeese’s secondary
Jovon Burriss has been a disruptive, physical defensive back for McNeese, flashing big-play ability with 48 tackles in the 2018 season and a memorable 2019 fumble-return touchdown against HBU. He’s the kind of DB who fits a defense that wants urgency, toughness, and run support from the back end; McNeese’s own coverage of him highlighted multiple double-digit tackle games and national honorable mention recognition in 2019. The upside here is clear: a veteran playmaker with instincts, edge, and a willingness to hit—exactly the stuff coaches love when the game gets spicy.
