skilled, physical frontcourt anchor who surged into All-American form at New Mexico
Bairstow stands out as a big, rugged forward who made a major leap at New Mexico, rising from a raw prospect to an All-American-caliber scorer and rebounder; in the 2013-14 season he averaged 20.4 points and 7.4 rebounds and earned Mountain West Tournament MVP honors, while a coach’s comment that he arrived as a 6-foot-9 player who “could barely dunk” underscores how much he developed into a stronger, more productive inside-out presence.
