Taylor Goodson brings veteran depth and special-teams juice to EIU's secondary
Taylor Goodson entered the 2025 season as a redshirt junior safety at Eastern Illinois, listed at 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds after transferring from Iowa Western CC, where he played in six games during the 2022 season and helped win a national title. His value is less about flashy stat totals and more about reliability, physicality, and experience — he redshirted in 2024, then was mentioned in EIU’s spring safety preview as part of a young, evolving back end. If you want a compact, tough defensive back who can add special-teams value and steady communication, he looks like a fit.
