veteran Miami linebacker with proven tackling and turnover production
Jimmy Gaines is a former Miami (FL) linebacker whose best college season came in 2013, when he started all 13 games at middle linebacker and finished second on the team with 83 tackles while adding a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a defensive touchdown. He stood out as a physical, reliable inside linebacker who could make plays in traffic and produce turnovers, not just rack up tackles. If you want a steady, high-effort defender with proven production and special-teams/value-added traits, he fit the mold; for 2026 roster purposes, though, he is not an active Hurricanes player.
