Jacobie Smith gives Grambling a live-armed righty with upside and volatility
Jacobie Smith is a 5-foot-11, 200-pound junior right-hander at Grambling State in the 2026 season, and the profile says plenty: a power arm with a fastball that sits 88–91 mph and can touch 94, plus a slider, curveball, and changeup in the mix. His 2026 Grambling stat line shows a 0-1 record across limited work, so he looks more like a developmental arm than a finished product. Why care? He brings strike-throwing upside, real velocity, and bullpen versatility; the fit is best for a staff that can coach patience, sharpen command, and let the stuff breathe.
