big-bodied former QB turned reliable Virginia target
Thompson’s appeal is his rare blend of size, experience, and natural ball skills: the former quarterback-turned-wideout has been a productive, versatile receiver for Virginia, including a 2022 breakout that earned All-ACC recognition, and his background gives him a strong feel for spacing and contested catches. He is a good fit for teams wanting a physical, high-IQ pass catcher who can create value outside pure speed, though his ceiling is more chain-moving reliability and matchup stress than elite explosiveness.
