Minnesota Gophers LB from 2001 Roster Era
Andy Merrill, a freshman linebacker for the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the 2001 season from DeForest, Wis., brings high school pedigree with top-3 rankings in Montgomery County 4A-North for interceptions (2 career), showcasing ball-hawking instincts and regional dominance.[1][2] His disciplined workout ethic—three strength and three cardio sessions weekly—hints at relentless intensity and durability, ideal for a tackling machine in run-heavy Big Ten schemes.[3] Care about him for that gritty, under-the-radar tenacity; he's a perfect fit for teams needing smart, high-motor LBs without flash.
