veteran-sound, academic-first Toreros DB with proven prep pedigree
John Castro is a San Diego DB whose profile stands out more for reliability, leadership, and football IQ than splashy stat lines. In his 2019 redshirt-freshman season, he appeared in one game for the Toreros, and his high school résumé included first-team All-West Catholic League honors, second-team All-Area recognition, and a captaincy nod, which suggests a disciplined, competitive defensive back who can handle responsibility. He also earned academic honors, pointing to strong preparation and coachability. If your team values a steady, detail-oriented defensive back with upside in a structured system, Castro fits the mold.
