Cosmin Diaconu brings decorated kicking pedigree, but still has to prove it on Saturdays
Diaconu arrives at Alabama State with real specialist pedigree: he was an all-state kicker in high school, earned state MVP honors in soccer, and has experience handling kickoff, punting and placekicking duties. The key question is production—his 2021 Alabama State season notes say he appeared in all five games but missed all three field-goal attempts, so his value is more about upside, leg talent and versatility than proven consistency. He looks like a developmental fit for a staff willing to bet on raw kicking tools and multi-sport athleticism.
