Maddy Wood has been WKU’s steadiness starter in 2026
In the 2026 season, Western Kentucky senior RHP Maddy Wood has been one of the Hilltoppers’ most reliable arms, posting a 1.40 ERA in Conference USA play and earning CUSA Pitcher of the Week after two wins with a 1.97 ERA over 10.2 innings at Mercer.[8][13] She’s a ground-ball heavy pitcher who can work deep enough to save the bullpen, and her best stretch included a shutout and a staff-leading 1.48 ERA early in the season.[11][4] If you want a calm, veteran pitcher who competes, keeps the ball on the ground, and gives you innings, Wood fits nicely.
