Candace Tarle gives SDSU a sneaky-valuable relief arm with starter upside
In the 2026 season, Candace Tarle was a sophomore pitcher for San Diego State who went 0-2 with a 5.78 ERA over 13.1 innings, but she also logged a save, struck out seven, and held hitters to a .250 average. Her best trait is poise: she flashed in relief with scoreless outings against North Dakota and Texas Tech, and a reliable late-game finish in SDSU’s one-hit win over North Dakota. Utah coach Kayla Hogue praised her “competitive nature,” her ability to spin the ball, and her maturity—useful signs for a staff piece who can grow into more than just innings insurance.
