Defensive Architect Turning Illinois State's Defense Into a Conference Force
As Illinois State's Outside Linebackers Coach and Associate Head Coach since 2018, Stewart has built a defensive unit that ranked second in the MVFC in scoring defense (20.0 PPG) and total defense (309.8 YPG) in 2024. His linebacker room excels at run-stopping—fourth in the conference at 157.1 rushing yards allowed per game—and develops high-impact players like All-MVFC honorable mention Amir Abdullah. Stewart's blend of CFL experience and college coaching expertise makes him a proven defensive developer who elevates entire position groups.
