Elite Defensive Guard with 5'11" Height Advantage for New Mexico Lobos
Amaya Brown, a 5'11" guard from Albuquerque, NM, stands out as New Mexico's top defensive player despite averaging 4.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in the 2025-26 season. Her differentiator is her relentless defensive intensity and ability to set the tone, a trait highlighted in her high school recruitment where she was ranked No. 1 in New Mexico for defense. Brown's 1.2 steals per game in 2022-23 and consistent double-figure scoring in 16 games that year show her capacity to elevate when needed. With no reported injury history and a competitive personality, she is a high-fit guard for teams prioritizing defensive grit and versatility over pure scoring volume.
