Southern Illinois LB Lamonte Edwards: Early-Role Defender with Speed and Physicality
Lamonte Edwards’ profile points to a linebacker built on **speed and range**—he was timed at **4.50** in the 40-yard dash coming out of high school, a useful marker for pursuit ability and coverage upside, and he earned **second-team all-state** honors at Woodbury before moving on to college football. In Southern Illinois’ current production snapshot, he has modest counting stats so far, so the real appeal is his athletic profile and projection: a defender who can close space quickly, fit multiple linebacker roles, and bring a high-motor style that coaches often value beyond the box score.
