Kent State’s quiet special-teams anchor: Derek Wales adds reliability at long snapper
Derek Wales appears to be a specialist-depth piece for Kent State rather than a stat-stuffer, which is exactly what you want from a long snapper: dependable, low-drama execution. Public roster and profile listings show him connected to Kent State as a long snapper/center-type special-teams player, but there isn’t meaningful public production data to judge him by traditional box-score stats. That usually means his value comes from consistency, snap timing, and trust on punts and kicks — the hidden stuff coaches love. If your team needs a steady specialist who likely lives in the details, he’s worth a look.
