Jaden Gamez gives UCSC a steady 6-3 guard with scoring punch
In the 2025-26 season, freshman Jaden Gamez appeared in 22 games and started 8 for UC Santa Cruz, scoring 88 points while shooting 36.3% from the field and 31.0% from three; he also posted a 13-point game and showed timely shot-making in UCSC’s comeback moments. What makes him interesting is the blend of size, spacing, and confidence for a first-year guard: at 6-3, he can stretch the floor, chip in as a secondary scorer, and provide useful backcourt versatility. For a team needing a young, developing guard with upside rather than a finished product, he’s a very plausible fit.
