Darin Heideman was a tackling-machine linebacker at UNI
In the 2005 season, Darin Heideman anchored the UNI Panthers’ defense with 98 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, earning first-team All-Gateway and second-team Associated Press All-American honors. He also delivered in the biggest moments, including a 17-tackle game in UNI’s quarterfinal win over No. 1 New Hampshire. Heideman’s edge was relentless production, downhill physicality, and a nose for disruptive plays — the kind of linebacker you want if your defense values toughness, consistency, and a tone-setting presence.
