Cara Cruthers brings versatile, high-contact bat and reliable utility value to NIU
Cara Cruthers profiles as a sturdy, multi-position defender with a proven high-school track record and enough offensive pop to matter in the middle of a lineup; at South Elgin in the 2022-23 season she hit .524 with a .606 on-base percentage, 44 hits, 44 RBIs and 52 runs, and NIU lists her as a career .430 hitter with 35 extra-base hits. She has also described herself as a true utility player, which is a real differentiator for roster construction because it gives a staff flexibility behind the plate and around the diamond.
