15-Point WCC Title Hero Anchors Gonzaga’s 13th NCAA Bid
Melody Kempton, a 6-1 forward for Gonzaga, delivered a clutch 15-point performance to lead the Bulldogs past No. 15 BYU (71-59) in the 2024 WCC Tournament final, securing their 13th NCAA Tournament berth [1]. While her early collegiate stats (4.3 PPG, 3.2 RPG in 2018-19) show modest production [2], her breakthrough in the championship game highlights her elite intensity and ability to elevate when stakes are highest—a differentiator that pure season averages miss. Kempton’s physical presence at 6-1, combined with her tournament-winning poise, makes her a high-fit addition for teams needing a reliable, battle-tested forward who thrives under pressure and brings championship-caliber grit.
