Jeff Bowens is a long, productive defensive back with special-teams juice
Jeff Bowens profiles more as a versatile defensive back than a true Mercer WR, and the latest available stats show he contributed on defense and returns rather than as a receiver. In the 2024 season, he played 12 games for Gardner-Webb and posted 7 tackles with 14 kick-return yards, while earlier at Illinois State he logged 40 tackles, a pass breakup, and an interception in the 2023 season. The appeal is his physicality, experience, and willingness to impact multiple phases; the caution flag is that his public statistical footprint does not currently show standout production at wide receiver.
