John Mathews brings developmental upside to Kent State at linebacker
As a Kent State linebacker, John Mathews is a name to watch for his long-term upside more than proven production, since the available public recruiting data does not show established college game stats yet. His value would come from how quickly he can translate physical tools, play speed, and consistency into reliable run support and coverage reps—traits that matter for a modern LB. For a team, he makes sense if you want a growth project with room to develop into a special-teams-and-depth contributor rather than an instant-impact starter.
