Matthew Steinberg brings live arm, upside, and a work-in-progress command profile to Manhattan
In the 2026 season, Steinberg has shown the kind of arm talent that can matter fast: he logged 28.2 innings with 18 strikeouts, but also 21 walks and a 7.85 ERA, which says the ceiling is real and the command is still catching up[2][3]. Manhattan’s own game notes show he’s been trusted in starting and relief roles, including a five-inning start against Iona with one earned run and three strikeouts, and a three-inning relief outing with three punchouts against La Salle[4][5]. Prep coverage praised his upper-80s fastball life and noted he chose Manhattan for its winning-baseball fit[1][9].
