Matt Speed brings veteran LB grit to Southern Illinois
Matt Speed is a hard-nosed, assignment-sound linebacker whose value shows up in toughness, consistency, and doing the dirty work that keeps a defense organized. The available Southern Illinois materials show him as an experienced LB contributor, and that kind of steady, physical presence is often a fit for teams that want reliability over flash. He profiles as the sort of defender coaches trust in the run fit and on special situations, with a blue-collar edge that can quietly raise a unit’s floor.
