Jalen Mackie brings veteran linebacker grit to UMass
Jalen Mackie is a sturdy, experienced linebacker for UMass who has shown real production and downhill physicality; in the 2022 season at UMass, he led the team with 100 tackles while adding 3.5 sacks and 15.0 tackles for loss, and that kind of backfield disruption is the kind of stuff coaches love[1]. At 6-1, 240, he profiles as a tone-setter in the middle — more thumper than highlight machine — with a résumé that suggests toughness, instincts, and reliable run support[1][4].
