Austin Beard gives Monmouth a battle-tested arm with starter’s poise
Austin Beard has been one of Monmouth’s steadier right-handers, highlighted by a 2024 season at Northern Oklahoma where he went 10-1 with a 3.80 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 71 innings, then carried that experience into Monmouth’s rotation in 2025-26. In 2026, he worked to a 2.30 ERA across conference play, and Monmouth’s game notes show he can miss bats, eat innings, and survive tough spots — including a four-inning relief shutdown against Stony Brook. He’s the kind of pitcher who fits a staff that wants grit, strikes, and versatility, even if command swings and occasional rough outings have shown up.
