Freshman lefty Cedes Saldana gives CSUB a real circle ace with big-game poise
In the 2026 season, Cedes Saldana emerged as Cal State Bakersfield’s go-to pitcher, earning Big West Freshman of the Week after posting a 1.11 ERA over 12.2 innings and helping the Roadrunners capture their first-ever series win over CSUN. She’s already shown durability and starter-level trust with complete games, and her calling card is competitive toughness: she keeps attacking, competes deep into games, and gives CSUB a chance to win even against stronger lineups. If you want a young, battle-tested arm with upside, she’s absolutely a name to know.
