Martin Howell is Dayton’s mash-first catcher with real middle-of-the-order juice
In the 2026 season, Dayton catcher Martin Howell has emerged as a dangerous bat, hitting .378 with a 1.067 OPS and showing extra-base pop that can change a game in one swing. He was also named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after a .421 week with 13 RBI and two homers, which screams impact performer, not empty stats. At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, he brings a physical, power-oriented profile with production that plays in the heart of a lineup. If your team wants a catcher who can punish mistakes and bring some firepower, Howell is a very intriguing fit.
