6'5" LHP with 26 SO in 2026, Elite Relief Instincts & Calm Under Pressure
David McSweeney, the 6'5" redshirt sophomore LHP for Northeastern, delivered a standout 2026 season with a 4.05 ERA, 2-1 win-loss record, and 26 strikeouts across 16 appearances (3 starts). His differentiator isn't just his frame—it's his elite ability to settle innings after damage, as seen when he erased momentum following a Campbell homer to secure no further damage. Coaches note his 'square-shouldered, long-limbed' build from Cohasset, MA, paired with a calm, intensity-driven personality that thrives in high-leverage relief roles. With no collegiate injury history and proven resilience against top teams like #2 LSU, McSweeney is a perfect fit for teams needing a reliable, data-driven lefty who turns pressure into performance.
