Junek brings size, projection, and a fresh arm to UTRGV’s pitching staff
Calvin Junek is a big-bodied right-hander with a 6'4"-plus frame and a developing arsenal that gives him real upside as a power pitcher. Reliable recruiting sources list him as a recent high-level prospect, and UTRGV notes him as a Coastal Carolina transfer, which adds experienced program pedigree to his profile.[1][2][3][5][6] What makes him interesting is the blend of projection and polish: he has the size and arm strength teams covet, plus enough pedigree to suggest he can grow into a useful bullpen or rotation piece rather than just a depth arm.[2][3][6]
