Taron Dickens brings record-setting FCS production and a big-play arm to NIU
In the 2026 season, Taron Dickens has quickly become a key Northern Illinois quarterback story, entering the Huskies after a breakout 2025 at Western Carolina where he threw for 3,508 yards and 38 touchdowns against just 2 interceptions in nine games. He’s the kind of transfer who changes the room: efficient, aggressive downfield, and battle-tested, with enough production to suggest real MAC upside. The fit is intriguing if NIU wants a passer who can elevate an offense, but he is still proving how his game translates against stronger week-to-week competition.
