MEAC Block Queen Turned Rochester Assistant Coach
Jayla Myles, the 6'2" Howard Bison center from Rochester, NY, dominated as a defensive force, earning MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2018 (5.0 blocks/game that week) and 2019-20 (top-60 nationally in blocks/game, league leader), with career totals of 143 blocks, 412 rebounds across 76 games. Her rim-protecting intensity, double-double prowess (e.g., 13 pts/15 reb vs. Cornell in 2016), and rebounding tenacity make her a game-changer. Now in her 5th+ season as Rochester women's basketball assistant (since 2021-22), she's transitioned her elite shot-blocking smarts to coaching—perfect for teams needing defensive anchors or rising assistants.
