Batavia Owens brings old-school interior toughness to Norfolk State
Batavia Owens is a true paint presence for Norfolk State, a 6-foot-1 center who has been known for rebounding, interior scoring, and physicality dating back to her Spartan days; in the 2011-12 season, she posted double-figure scoring and strong board work in several games, including 12 points and 13 rebounds against Monmouth. Her biggest differentiator is her willingness to bang inside, defend the glass, and give a team a reliable low-post anchor. If a roster needs rugged frontcourt grit rather than finesse, Owens fits the bill.
