Big-bodied Nevada righty with pro-size upside, but 2025 was wiped by injury
In the 2025 season, Hughes made just one appearance for Nevada, working an inning at California on Feb. 16 before missing the rest of the year with injury, so the biggest question is health rather than stuff. Nevada lists him at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds in 2026, a frame that screams power arm and gives him clear upside as a durable RHP if he’s fully back. He’s the kind of arm a staff watches closely: physically imposing, potentially matchup-friendly, but still a return-to-form project after the lost season.
