Tyler Ryden is a durable strike-throwing righty with starter upside for Sam Houston
In the 2026 season, Tyler Ryden showed real rotation value for Sam Houston, working multiple deep starts and peaking with a 5.0-inning, one-run win over McNeese, while also delivering a 6.0-inning shutout against WKU and a 6.0-inning, two-run outing against Kennesaw State.[1][3][4][8] His line through late April/early May sat around a 5.7-6.0 ERA with 39 strikeouts and 26-29 walks, so the appeal is the arm strength and innings-eating profile more than pure command right now.[2][10][13] He looks like a competitive, take-the-ball type who can help a staff if your team wants toughness and starter feel, but the walk rate says there’s still polish to unlock before the stuff fully pops.[1][2][7]
