veteran Louisiana Tech safety with a coach-on-the-field edge
Dez Abrams brings veteran savvy and defensive command to Louisiana Tech, with a reputation for understanding coverage calls and helping direct the secondary rather than just reacting to the play. The clearest differentiator in the available reporting is his football IQ: as a senior safety, he was praised for knowing how to call a defense and for making the transition under a new defensive coordinator look smooth. I could not verify current 2026 stat lines, but the profile points to a dependable, communication-heavy safety who fits best in a defense that values alignment, leadership, and trust.
