Cody Upton is a depth linebacker with early-game reps and growing trust in Starkville
In the 2025 season, Cody Upton appeared in 12 games and finished with 34 total tackles, showing he can hold down a rotational linebacker role for Mississippi State.[4] He stands out more for steady availability and developmental upside than headline-grabbing stats, and Mississippi State’s 2026 linebacker outlook suggests the staff views the position as a strength with Upton in the mix rather than a desperate need.[4][9] If you want a physical, dependable fit who can keep climbing in a crowded room, he’s worth a look.
