Nevanna Smith gives Nicholls a steady bat and clutch pop behind the plate
In the 2025 season, freshman catcher Nevanna Smith flashed real upside for Nicholls, batting .429 with three hits, two RBIs, and a walk in six games while also proving she can deliver in pressure spots, including an RBI single for her first career hit and a walk-off single against Jackson State. She also added her first homer of the 2026 season in an April 2 win over East Texas A&M, showing developing power to go with her catcher profile. A former all-state honorable mention and Colorado Batbusters product, Smith looks like a high-energy, versatile backstop with contact ability, timely hitting, and competitive makeup.
