UCSB’s big-armed righty with ace upside and a bounce-back arc
Aber is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound right-hander at UC Santa Barbara who redshirted the 2025 season and entered 2026 as a redshirt freshman, so the arrow is still pointing up[1][2]. The draw is real: he arrived with pro-style pitchability and arm strength, and UCSB’s own notes list favorite MLB arms like Ben Joyce and Paul Skenes, a nice hint at the velocity/impact profile he admires[1]. His biggest selling point is ceiling—if he stays healthy and keeps sharpening command, he fits the mold of a power pitcher with starter traits rather than just a thrower[1][12].
