Veteran Merrimack guard with proven shot-making touch
Mykel Derring is a seasoned Merrimack guard whose biggest calling card has been efficient perimeter scoring; in the 2022-23 season, he averaged 4.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.4 assists, and his profile still points to a confident catch-and-shoot threat who can stretch defenses[1][2]. He has shown real upside when locked in from deep, including prior stretches where he was hot enough to draw weekly conference praise for elite three-point shooting, which tells you he can swing a game quickly if he gets clean looks[7]. He looks like a fit for teams needing experienced backcourt spacing, calm shot selection, and a guard who brings a little veteran savvy rather than empty-volume scoring[1][7].
