Ronnie Thornton brings old-school linebacker thump to Southern Miss
In the 2010 season, Southern Miss linebacker Ronnie Thornton played in all 12 games and piled up 59 tackles, including 27 solo stops, giving the Golden Eagles a reliable, durable presence in the middle of the defense. He was also known as a high-ceiling prep prospect, ranking as the No. 73 strong linebacker in his class and arriving with a reputation for splash plays, including 17 tackles for loss, seven forced fumbles, four interceptions and six sacks as a senior in high school. That combination of sturdiness, production and edge makes him a fit for a team that wants physicality and instinct over flash.
