Saint Mary's OF Diego Castellanos: 8-Hit Breakout Star with Elite Speed and .615 BA
Diego Castellanos, a sophomore right fielder for the Saint Mary's Gaels, exploded in the 2025 season opener with a career-best 8-hit weekend against Saint Louis, scoring seven runs and leading the team with a .615 batting average (8-for-13) [2]. His primary differentiator is elite speed and intensity; after playing only eight games in 2024 primarily as a pinch runner, he seized the starting right field role immediately, showcasing the high-octane energy that earned him Shamrock Student-Athlete of the Week [2]. While his power numbers are still developing, his ability to score from the outfield and pressure defenses makes him a perfect fit for teams prioritizing speed, defensive versatility, and a relentless, high-intensity personality [2]. If you need an athlete who brings instant momentum and a 'never-stop-running' mentality, Castellanos is a top-tier prospect.
