Cornell’s John Gerfen brings left-handed upside, but still awaits a statistical breakout
Gerfen is a senior left-handed pitcher for Cornell in the 2026 season, and Cornell’s roster lists him at 6-foot-0, 209 pounds with a R/L throwing-batting profile.[1][2] The strongest read on him is upside: Cornell identified him as one of its returning pitchers heading into the 2024 season, and in a 2024 game recap he logged two strikeouts, showing he has been part of the Big Red’s depth mix.[6][8] There are no available season statistics on his Cornell roster page, so he looks more like a potential fit for teams valuing a developmental lefty with size and multiple years in the program than a proven stat-line star.[1]
