Darcel McBath’s Texas Tech impact: veteran ballhawk turned coach
Darcel McBath brings legit Red Raider pedigree: in the 2008 season, he led the nation with 7 interceptions and earned first-team All-Big 12 honors, which tells you he was a high-IQ, playmaking defensive back who lived on the ball[1][6]. His differentiator is that rare combo of turnover production, experience in a Mike Leach-era defense, and pro-level polish from an NFL career, making him especially appealing for teams wanting a disciplined, instinctive secondary voice rather than just raw athletic talent[1][14].
