Marlin Cochran gives Western Carolina a sturdy, versatile back with real upside
In the 2026 preseason, Marlin Cochran is a back to watch for Western Carolina after missing 2025 with injury, but still drawing praise as part of a running back room that “appears to be in good hands.”[9] Earlier reports highlighted his burst and utility: he played nearly 200 snaps in 2024[11], rushed for 945 yards and 9 touchdowns over his final two varsity prep seasons, and added 23 catches for 305 yards and a score in high school.[1] At 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, he looks like a physical, flexible fit if your team wants a runner who can handle volume and contribute as a receiver.[1][4]
