steady VMI linebacker with proven role-player toughness
Austin Barrette has been a physical, reliable piece for VMI, with roster records showing him as a 5'11", 215-pound linebacker and defensive contributor in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons[2][4]. His value is less about flash and more about consistency: he brings compact build, contact courage, and the kind of assignment-sound play that coaches usually trust on defense[2][4]. Stat pages available here don’t show a full current stat line, so the clearest takeaway is fit: if a team wants a tough, experienced linebacker who can handle the dirty work and give dependable snaps, Barrette looks like a solid football-first option[1][8].
